Remember when every house had a mailbox? Individual mailboxes told you something about the people who lived there. Fancy brass ones…Cheap tin ones…customized boxes with bunnies or butterflies…all sorts of different ways homeowners could make a statement with their mailboxes.

Remember that sense of anticipation when you lifted the lid of that ugly little ’50s metal box? Remember the little clips where they’d put your newspaper? remember when you could put your outgoing mail in your mailbox right outside your front door?

So what’s with this crap today of putting all the mailboxes together in a big clump someplace a block away from your house? Did anyone think about how inconvenient this new “improvement” is? NOOOOOOOOO! Mailcarriers are not getting proper exercise and homeowners are getting too much! Whose brilliant idea was it to cluster the boxes, anyway?
